The London Acoustic Guitar Show this weekend will bring acoustic guitar fans from all across the country to London's Olympia venue, where worldwide trade distributor John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd. is set to unveil the new Vintage® Paul Brett signature acoustic guitars with the help of the man himself.
Paul is one of the foremost 12-string guitarists in the world, and he has worked together with the Vintage team to come up with twin 6-string and 12-string models that will surely be the envy of players the world over.
He said: “I had the privilege of being involved in the design process for these guitars. I wanted to recreate the sound of an early 12-string that so many guitarists seek for blues playing. In fact, when the prototypes arrived in June, I was amazed that you could replicate most 6-string styles on the 12-string with ease, which has to be a bonus and... the sound was like a cannon!”
The new guitars will feature solid spruce tops, with rosewood backs and sides, mahogany necks and rosewood fingerboards. Both will be fitted with Fishman Matrix pre-amps and under-saddle pickups for when plugging in is necessary, and deluxe padded bags are supplied as part of the package.
These specs are a culmination of Paul's expertise in vintage guitars. He is a respected authority on the history of the instrument, and, as a collector of vintage guitars, has over three hundred in his private collection. He has made appearances on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow and Flog It as a guitar expert and is currently the resident expert for Acoustic Magazine and Guitar Buyer on all things vintage.
Paul will have his own stand as part of the Acoustic Magazine team at the Acoustic Show, where he will be playing and demoing his new Vintage signature models. Paul said: "I am really looking forward to this event – it's a first for the magazine and a first for London. I shall be available to discuss vintage guitars and I'm taking along a few very rare guitars including a 1930's jumbo Stella 12 string of the kind that Leadbelly played and some other rarities. I shall be on stand B4 so drop by and have a look at some rarities and don't forget to visit JHS for a look at my new Vintage signature guitars."
The JHS stand at the show will be situated at Location D1. Stop by to see all the new models and see, among other things, Vintage acoustics, Pilgrim by Vintage banjos, and the new range of Fishman acoustic amplification.
